Rich

Rich wines are medium to full-bodied, complex red wines that are usually high in tannins and fruit flavors. Examples are Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Tempranillo and Cabernet Franc.

 

667 Pinot Noir 2010 displays luscious cherry, black pepper, and floral notes.

Alange 10 Tempranillo. Shows ripe dark fruits such as plum and blackberry, soft and long on the finish.

Banfi 2010 Chianti Classico. Ruby red in color. Intense bouquet with notes of cherries, plums, and violets. Rich flavors of cherry and leather. Supple tannins and good acidity.

Barista 2010 Pinotage. Deeply coloured, and laden with rich dark-roasted coffee, mocha and blackberry aromas and flavours, with vanilla throughout. The coffee character is achieved through additional toasting of the barrels, resulting in attractive and unique intensified flavours.

Battle Axe 2010 Malbec displays great intensity fruity aromas of cherries, blackberries and plums stand out against a background of fine toasty hints from ageing in top-quality oak. Warm, intense and well-structured on the palate, with an explosion of fruit flavors underscored by light oaky notes.

Bocelli 2010 Sangiovese is all about red berries, cherries, rhubarb, anise, spices, and dried cranberries.

Bogle 2009 Old Vine Zinfandel. Sleek and zesty, with black cherry and cracked pepper aromas joined by appealing flavors of briary dried berry and licorice.

Brown 2009 Zinfandel. Cascades of exotic spice follow, leading with allspice, clove, cinnamon, and cardamom with Madagascar vanilla and subtle tobacco. Expansive and broad with a silky, creamy mouthfeel that is interwoven seamlessly with mandarin-like zestiness that lingers on the palate.

Coppola Diamond 2007 Tempranillo offers dazzling aromas of ripe berries, black plums and sweet cigar smoke, smooth tannins and an earthy edge.

Coppola Diamond 2008 Alicante Bouchet. A lush, medium-bodied red wine made from an unusual French grape with a California history.

Earthquake Zinfandel. Ripe and zesty, with baked berry pie aromas and appealing flavors of huckleberry, fresh sage and licorice.

El Coto 2007 Rioja. The fresh fruit aro­mas are pre­ser­ved in the no­se, to­get­her with ty­pi­cal li­quo­ri­ce aro­mas from the oak. Hints of va­ni­lla. In the mouth good ba­lan­ce. Silky, vel­vety with good in­ten­sity.

Fagus Garnacha. Smells fairly solid, with plum, prune and leather. But the palate is ultrasweet and milky, with a strong candied essence that doesn’t impress unless your thing is chocolate-covered cherries and vanilla.

Gascon 2010 Malbec showcases flavors and aromas of blackberry, blueberry, plum, dark cherry, and a hint of mocha.

Graffigna 2009 Malbec. A deep red color with violet hues, this wine exudes aromas of great complexity with very ripe dark berries with a touch of black pepper and spice. The palate is well integrated, combining delicate ripe tannins and complex finish with hints of coffee, vanilla and toast.

Grayson 2009 Zinfandel shows a dark color with rich mixed raspberries, strawberries and brambles surrounded by hints of spice including black pepper and cinnamon. Intense richness carries through on the palate of this full bodied wine with explosive blackberry and raspberry pie flavors. The wine’s finish is long and elegant.

Hope Estate 2009 Shiraz. Smooth and with good weight, it tastes of rounded ripe black and blueberry and rich Godiva Chocolate.

Jacob’s Creek 2009 Reserve Shiraz. Full bodied wine displaying rich fruit flavours of dark berries and plums and velvety tannins. Lovely acid balance and integration of flavours result in a supple and engaging wine with a lingering finish of spice, chocolate and mocha.

Joel Gott 2008 Zinfandel boasts aromas of cocoa, raspberries, and ripe strawberries. On the palate the wine is round and juicy with flavors of pepper, anise, dark cherry and spice, ending with a lingering finish.

La Quercia 2009 Montepulciano. Smooth, balanced and lush. Lovely nose. Firm tannins with a nice long finish that goes on and on.

Las Rocas Garnacha 07. Dark ruby in color, it delivers alluring aromas of spice box, mineral, cherry, and black raspberry. Layered on the palate, it has superb depth, succulent flavors, and a pure, lengthy finish.

Monte Oton 2010 Garnacha shows bright and full Garnacha notes of ripe black fruits, as well as raisins, blueberries, and plums, and it's even showing some overripeness. The mouth and finish are warm and relatively gentle.

Newtone 2009 Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon displays delicate notes of Spring Mountain juniper, blackberry and dark black plum. In both aromas and taste, hints of mocha, bittersweet chocolate is partnered with herbal spice and sage.

Novelty Hill 2007 Royal Slope Red. Generous and round offering delicious, red ripe plum, blueberry and currant aromas and flavors, with a lip-smacking, spicy finish.

Oak Ridge 2008 OZV Zinfandel. It's very bold, just like the wine inside it. It pours to reveal a luscious purplish red color. Cedar, cherry, blackberry jam, cola and herbs waft from the nose. The palate is big� big blackberry jam, cherry, plum and spice�a fun and intense spice. There is a bit of coffee and chocolate, lending a soft, smooth characteristic to the experience. The finish is long and spicy.

Perazzeta 2009 Sara Toscana Rosso displays bright, juicy cherry and strawberry aromas and flavors highlight this elegant red. A touch of spice enlivens the finish.

Plungerhead 2009 Lodi Zinfandel has flavors of dried strawberry, dark raspberry, plum sauce, cedar, and pomegranate, with hints of white pepper and cherry liquor. The finish is sweet fruit, toasty oak, and lingering warm spices.

Rosenblum 2008 Syrah. The palate parallels the aromas with an elegant yet lively offering of heady ripe fruit and dusty, peppery spices. A chalky minerality runs across the back of the palate, joined by structured tannins and a long, fruit-focused finish.

Santa Julia 2010 Malbec Plus has a creamy and velvety mouthfeel, no sharp edges here, blackberry, chocolate, caramel, the mid-palate brings blueberry and vanilla.

Santa Marherita 2007 Chianti Classico. The color is deep and dense ruby red, with aromas of very ripe black cherries and plums, then floral hints of gladiolus. The palate exudes initial fruits and spices that shift gradually into fruits and herbal notes.

Sottimano 2009 Nebbiolo has a deep brillant red, an intense, persistent nose of fruits and spices, with some hints of dried rose, cherries and tobacco. On the palate it shows a good, firm body and very refined tannins, with notes of violet, mint and a fresh, vibrant fruit.

Tait 2010 Ball Buster. Deep Black Purple. Intense aromas of blackcurrent, stewed plums, cherry, and chocolate. Full bodied berry palate with a sweet long lasting finish.

Tofanelli 2007 Zinfandel. Very juicy on the palate, with a silky entry loaded with teriyaki, cigar box, dark fruits, clove & nutmeg.

Twisted Zinfandel is medium-bodied with aromas of black cherry, red currant, blackberry bramble and a hint of spice.  Concentrated ripe stone fruit, dark berry flavors and toasted oak carry through to the palate while nicely balanced acidity and plush tannins lead to a lingering finish.

Van Ruiten 2007 Carignane. Its dark ruby color opens to aromas of plum, raspberry, and spice. The old vine elicits a taste of Lodi terroir, dark blackberry and cherry fruit flavor with a long smooth tannin finish.

Villa Pozzi Nero d’Avola. Very dark purple, with a reddish-violet edge, typical of this grape. Black plums, a hint of licorice and subtle spice, not overly complex but appealing. A big mouth full of juicy black fruit is well structured by tart acidity and soft but distinct tannins.
